Audition Verbiage

If you missed the first audition for the 2015-2016 winter guard season, you’re in luck! We have another audition opportunity on Sunday, November 1st, 2015, 9am-4pm! This audition will be held at Locust Elementary School, 539 Locust Street, Marengo, IL 60152. A $25 non-refundable fee is required to audition and it will be applied as a credit to your winter guard dues if chosen for membership.

The 2015-2016 Allegiance RA and IA teams are open to young men and women, ages 14-22. Previous color guard experience is helpful, but not required. The Allegiance RA and IA teams will both compete at Midwest Color Guard Circuit shows and championships. Additionally, Allegiance IA will compete at (2) WGI Regionals and WGI Championships.

Steps to Audition:

1. Complete the online audition application to let us know you’re coming (go to the “Click here to Register” button below). After you fill out the application and click the “submit” button, you will have the option of paying the $25 non-refundable audition fee online via PayPal OR you can just bring a cash payment to the audition.

2. If you have your own practice flag, please bring it with you to the audition. If you don’t have your own flag, we will have some extras on hand. If you wish to audition for a rifle and/or sabre spot in the show, you will need to bring your own rifle/sabre.

3. Please bring a sack lunch along with healthy snacks and beverages.

4. Please wear all black form-fitted athletic or dance rehearsal attire that doesn’t restrict your movement. No jeans, baggy clothing, skirts, and hats. Long hair should be pulled up in a ponytail or bun and bangs should be secured back or to the side.

5. At the end of auditions, the staff will meet with each participant to let them know their results. If chosen for membership, the participant will receive a 2015-2016 handbook with the full season schedule and the necessary forms that will need to be filled out and returned at the next rehearsal. If the participant is under age 18, he/she must have a parent or legal guardian co-sign the membership forms.

Overall, we think you’ll find auditions to be challenging and fun! It gives the staff ability to assess your skills and potential. It’s also a great opportunity for you to meet other members and the staff while getting a feel for a typical rehearsal day at Allegiance. You do not need to prepare anything special for auditions, however, you will want to do some stretching and practice your spins and tosses so you’re warmed up for gthe audition day. Ultimately, if you like to work hard, have fun and LOVE color guard, you are going to do very well at auditions!
